Well, historically documented things at the NYT have included completely false but accepted insertions by the CIA for instance, or so I've been told over my lifetime.

(I'm not exactly sure what they counter to this accusation in response, since I've never actually been able to financially scale their online paywall.)

I did once have one of their writers as a college professor back in the 80's though. I sincerely liked that guy, though he was not a political contributer.
