I grimaced when I got the news of this approaching film, mostly because the original Mad Max hooked and mesmerised me at age 12, and Braveheart and Apocalypto were later also pretty badass to me. I viewed him as a slightly eccentric hero of our times, TBH.
I just don't know what avenue he's gonna take as a theme. Heard something about Ukraine and child trafficking. I have no problem with that. I just feel a slight cringe coming on, like too much generalized hate toward anyone at all attracted to kids? Ugh. I think he's brilliant and has an unapollogetically masculine identity. (Which of course is why he is so targeted by certain elements.) It would just be atotal bummer to have to distance myself from one of my rare Hollywood heroes. So any info on his next film would just be highly appreciated by me personally. I don't want to stop revering that brilliant and unapologettically masculine guy I've admired for decades:/ Truly hope the film takes a non-targeted direction. |
