I don't think it was just the immersion. I feel like that was a political insert and that certainly didn't help. The soldier was too much of a caricature of what they thought soldiers were like.
It certainly wasn't the only thing. Hollywood loves their dark, dystopian, nihilistic material, and that kind of fed into it. That was around the walking dead time too, and I just want something positive every now and then. At least we could help Clementine a little bit on having a more decent life. Once I figured out hollywood will never give that to me positivity. I switched to non Western media and especially anime. Even in many of the darkest of anime I don't feel the overwhelming sense of nihilism of current day hollywood. It was the same thing with the burning of Shireen. Almost made me quit game of thrones. I just don't know if they can stop themselves from it even in a documentary. Especially that would include us. Soldiers and pedos are both caricatures for the media. Maybe someday. For now there's anime. Which is certainly servicing me as a fan of little girls. |
