You might want to make the simple effort for knowing a simple GC benefit and no real commitment on your part like in the past.

I suspect you already know this person at least as well as I do, and I never trusted easily.

I suspect they only want to pass on early information to you. It will likely be a pleasant experience, rather than a burden of responsibility at all.
