Personally, I was looking at no new registrants as finally a way to engage in discussions with a very few people without distraction. So many purposeful disruptors cycle through nics or create a personal army of nics, so it looked like an opportunity.
However, he sees a stark reality I think. A place eventually dies if posters drop away over time and nobody new at all arrives with new energy and ideas and perspective. I understand, this requires moderation and people willing to devote time to that moderation. I see both sides of this predicament, and I don't know the answer. Trust is an issue for delegating mod privileges, as is finding different people who will be around 24/7 or close to it. That's not exactly a luxury for us anymore as it used to be, is it. Maybe it's something to address later. I'm not sure. It's clearly another issue facing this place, regardless. ![]() |
