I think lots of those who wield power are secretly pedo, but only because the norms for the common folk threaten their power game. And as we see more than ever today, it's also highly valuable for those in the shadows who wield the actual power, to have all of these people previously compromised before they are granted the spotlight roles for the masses.

And yes, men paid the price with their health or lives, working themselves to death or going to war at the whim of the elites.
