Ridiculous discrepancies in movies

You have no doubt noticed when you have been watching movies made in the past decades, movies where people fly to distant exoplanets or fight with aliens with some exotic ray guns... that despite the technological advancement of those people, their computers and telephones look ridiculously old-fashioned.

We don't fly to distant exoplanets and we don't fight with aliens, but our computers and telephones are a thousand times more modern than the ones in those movies.
