What is meant by 'rewriting history'?

When people talk about rewriting history, they usually mean someone is playing fast and loose with the facts. But I don't think I'm doing this. Where have I made any factual distortions? I am just using the facts as I honestly believe them to be to support an unorthodox, and perhaps unpopular, value judgement.
