It's a good question, but you won't get a good answer from such people.

Whether they are insane themselves, or just caught up in the madness of crowds ... there's just no rhyme or reason to their beliefs. It's more like an ahistorical religious dogma. Ahistorical because there's no traditional religion that held such a dogma. In fact, there's no traditional religion that doesn't find such a dogma abhorrent. It's something beyond dogma or faith because they hold their beliefs not only without evidence, but in defiance of the evidence.

Of course, modern practitioners of some traditional religions have fallen to the madness, but it is quite at odds with the core beliefs of their supposed faiths.

I'm afraid you're going to have to get used to the world being mad. It's just one of those things. We haven't had many new members here at GirlChat for some time now, so it seems a bit odd to me to have to say it - I'm used to it just being a fact that we can all agree on: water is wet, fire is hot, the masses are clinically insane.
