In my country there was at least one young man who killed two ladies and had plans to kill a dozen of them as he himself said, but was apprehended and sent to prison, then was released and never committed any major crimes in his life any more.

So a milder sentence can sometimes be right. And as I said in my post about Juhani Aataminpoika, I cannot accept the torture he was subjected to in the end.
