My memory of your posts is not particularly good, but no doubt I have had my world view informed by them over the years.

You bring up some interesting thoughts here. Of course, my background is decidedly NOT Catholic. Such of my ancestors as were Irish came to America in the 1600s, not the 1800s. I say that because despite my inherited aversion to the Catholic church, it is quite obvious that attacking it on the grounds that there were some pedophile priests was politically motivated, and that those doing the attacking did not really care about the pedophile priests as such at all.

And yes, even though I don't agree with much of Catholic dogma, that doesn't blind me to the fact that Francis makes the phrase "Is the Pope Catholic?" something less than a robust affirmation.

BTW, did you know that crows hold a special place in many religious traditions? Spare a thought for the memory of Huginn and Muninn....
