I have no clue, but what I see is wealth being sucked up and the consequences being explained away by the need for the common folk having to make-do more with less, but it's all for the sake of the planet, you see. So it fits in with the whole "Nature" prerogative.

"You keep doing that do-more-with-less stuff. That makes you a good person, and Nature smiles upon you while we take it all and plot your demise with a soft method you will never manage notice in time because we distract you with nothing that matters in the grand scheme."
