I want to say I participated in this, but I don't remember. Was this the same one being done by the graduate student at some university in Ontario who never came back with an update after getting our input? I think I got turned off on participating in studies for a while after that one.

Results sound interesting. Hope all the participants were being honest. The problem with any anonymous online survey is that you inevitably get a few morons who view it as something to manipulate to their own viewpoint, or simply as something to screw up for fun.

Years ago I remember a study for which the participants supposedly had to out their identities to the researchers, who from what I gather were legit. I do remember Dissident trying to convince me to do it but I wasn't willing to trust them to not "out" us, even though I am certain it made the results infinitely more reliable.

Anyway, thank you for reposting this. I don't even remember it, but there are a lot of posts that I don't even open these days. Thank you for the effort to add research to the understanding of this attraction without intrusion of moral biases.
