Off topic? Yes, hamburger steak always is.
Basically, hamburger steak is what people born before 1970 call a hamburger when they have no buns and couldn't be arsed to make a meatloaf. Truck stops call it chopped steak. Dollar stores call it salisbury steak. It's a hamburger. Without a bun. A lady brought me one tonight. A grandmotherly type. (I know, 'grandmotherly' isn't a word. But it's hitting my vocabulary before 'hamburger steak.') The thing is, it was really, really good. And the thing had at least half a pound of beef. She gave me a whopping pile of potato salad too. (I suppose this is the 'hamburger steak' equivalent of fries.) Everything tasted so good! ...where's the bun though? |
