I was working on your eulogy, much like another former poster I eulogized only to be told privately... "Uhh, dude, I'm not actually dead tho."

It was a good start for me on yours:

He was a redwood among many saplings..

..but then my cable antenna cut out here in the forest and I lost my old X-file episode rerun, and alas, I was left to be more honest and start Googling platitudes that I could slightly reword instead.

Alas, I eventually realized I could only ever eulogize you sincerely if you actually pass away.

Then I thought, the same would be true for me.
