I've been here for a long time but I don't have any (known) enemies but I like everyone. I even like lawyers (and bankers) because I understand them.

But sans is right and has an excellent suggestion in his first paragraph. "... you want someone who specializes in whatever you've been charged with..." or that you are trying to get the courts to consider. And... "A tiny mistake that you don't even realize..."

If you are charged with something, and cannot afford one, a lawyer will be appointed for you.

If you are trying to say something in a court, talk to Legal Aid in your town (or one near you.)

I have defended myself several times for speeding and parking tickets. The risk was low so I attempted it. Lost one, won one, had one dismissed due to lack of evidence (the cop didn't want to be there.)

There are many law libraries around big teaching universities and many students might help... but, well, you know students...
