Because political decisions and actions end up affecting girls. Usually even those which are not explicitly about them.

Should that be the focus of GC? No. Especially not as we do not have an Other Chat forum like BC does. But neither should we refuse to make posts about political subjects. Again, politics affects girls. (And pedos too, but I personally prioritize girls above pedos.)
