Territorial sea, as defined by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, is a belt of coastal waters extending at most 12 nautical miles (22.2 km; 13.8 mi) from the baseline (usually the mean low-water mark) of a coastal state. (Wikipedia: Territorial waters)

The Kennedy Channel forms part of Nares Strait, linking Kane Basin with Hall Basin. It is about 130 kilometres in length, between 24 and 32 kilometres in width. The issue of the question isn't who OWNs the strait (and the contested island), but that the two borders are shared, legally. It doesn't matter where those borders are but that they are in contact. For the record of those fantasy island dreamers, there are two gorgeous 6 year old little girls there making sand castles. One is Canadian, one is Danish. Both are claiming love relationships with Gimwinkle so hands off!

As for dividing Hans Island, I'm all in favor for declaring war on Denmark and putting an entire blockade around Hans Island to prevent ships and seals from reaching all the seagulls and puffins there.

The Collectivité d'outre-mer de Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon consist of the islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon fly the French tricolor (France) and are 25 kilometres from the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland (Canadian). I don't know the exact little girl population there, but the over all population is around 6,000, half are male, half are female. That's 3,000 girls there of which, statistically, 10% should be little girls. So there are 30 little girls there all with beautiful French accents to their English pronunciations. That will make it one for each of us to fall in love with.
