I'm afraid I have to disagree with you about the purpose of GC. The primitive Ralf-ware, lack of features, need to talk to a human being to post, virtual 24 hour a day monitoring by strict monitors, implies it was never meant to be a place for activism or "a movement". It was designed to relay a beacon "you are not alone" for as long as possible. Nothing more.
