Anyway, the first band that I played bass for played My Head's in Mississippi and, in practice, I really screwed up the bridge because they wanted me to loudly follow the lead guitar. To get around that on stage, I did play the notes sort of loudly but lightly enough to sound acceptable to them but still pretty much like the original recording. Not sure why they wanted it that way. (I'm listening to it as I type this. Check the bass part out around the 2 minute mark.)

Years later, I tried growing a ZZ Top beard. It got to about an inch and a half when it started to sharply curve to my right. It looked ugly as sin. I felt really bad one day, standing in a Walmart checkout lane behind this mother and 4 year old daughter. The little girl was laughing at me and I could see that She wasn't looking at my eyes but my stupidly curved beard. I went home and shaved it off. I've never had a beard since.
