Are you referring to Kirsten Storms?
The problem I have with British writers is just how wordy they can get without saying much. Dickens wasn't so bad but Ray Bradbury was an instant shutdown for me. Nevertheless, in school, we had to read Great Expectations and, of course, Pip and Estella captured my attention. But, as the story moved on, I stopped reading. (That's ADHD for you!) That's why I knew the 1998 movie's opening (concept) very well. But the director's rendition of it was a killer! By the way, Finnegan's Wake was by James Joyce. (I'm not too sure anyone can read all that rambling Joyce wrote.) Although it's not much of a Christmassy thing, how about The Ghost and Mrs. Muir? (1968 - 1970, American TV) with Hope Lang. Kellie Flanagan played nine-year-old Candace "Candy" Muir. And, to tie the title of this post to this text, consider Maurice Chevalier who sang: Each time I see a little girl Of five or six or seven I can't resist a joyous urge To smile and say Thank heaven for little girls Those little eyes So helpless and appealing When they were flashing Send you crashing Through the ceiling |
