The pro-choice ideology is under constant attack and challenge everywhere we look, and everywhere we turn. It's frankly silly of you to tell us or imply that we "need" to be challenged--as if it doesn't already happen constantly!--or that arguing with Ethan is somehow rejecting a challenge. To the contrary, it's meeting that challenge you say we need, and giving him thoughts that he needs to digest far more than we do, since we've heard it and digested it from his end countless times already throughout the entire course of our lives. Also, challenging and debating is not the equivalent of attacking him, or trying to "drive him off." Just because he is a minority of thought on this particular board--while being so virtually no where else on this planet, including within the entire vast swatch of cyberspace--doesn't mean he is a battered underdog who needs a wet blanket tossed over him to protect him from the fires he starts. As for loving our enemies (i.e., opponents): Good advice. But just because we do not hate them doesn't mean we shouldn't challenge them back when they challenge us first. If you think we need this challenge so badly (because, I guess we never get it anywhere else, right?), then understand Ethan needs to expect the same. I think he understands this completely, and always has. |
