Funerals are a great place to learn about your roots.
The stories always come out, but "back in the day" it was ok to do what was shocking now.

Relative 1. He was born in a rural area in the late 1800s. He was in his late 20s or early 30s when he married his wife. They lied on the marriage certificate, stating that she was 15. She was actually only 10. She gave birth to another of my relatives at the age of 12.

Relative 2. With his mom only 12 years older he eventually found himself at the age of 30 with a 16 year old wife.

Relative 3. He had a wife who died during child birth. At the age of 35 he married his next wife. Wife 2 was his 15 year old daughter's best friend. Wife 2 is now step mom to her classmate.
