I am not even a pedo and I have had parents cut me out ( not completely) because their kids wanted to spend time with me over them. And they have told me this.

I think it has to do with the fact that many paedosexuals love kids and when you are attracted to someone their pleasure is your pleasure, sexual or otherwise. You are invested in their interests. So where I usually decline tea parties a paedosexual would be much more likely to partake and legitimately enjoy the time spent.

Another issue is parenting in modern culture is about control, frustration, punishment, sending kids to other people to raise them (school, daycare, etc).

I do think it exists subconsciously.
