We don't know if Uncle Ray was 'one of us'. We can clearly see and hear a 'romantic' affection for Claire however. So the difference between 35 years is in a need to know the intent, I think.

It matters now for some reason when "back then" it was not so important. As you stated, sexual hysteria is to blame.

You, Dissident have influenced me in a very significant way. You gave me a list of books to read (required for newbies, you said). I read them. But my comprehension is certainly not as good as yours. I know you are busy with many pursuits, but, if you could find the time, I, and I'm sure many others here would love to read a summary of the historical transition that occured just a couple of short decades ago, that lead to this hysterical misstep in sexual attitudes that causes 'us' so much pain today.

And, of course, welcome back. Hope you can stay a while. Having you here somehow straightens my course and makes me feel the world is a bit more 'okay'.
