general follow up to responses

several follow-up posts (except Baldur's) generally said the same thing. I didn't take the comment personally at all - I've always been an athletic guy and very much into sport.

I'm not sure if the posters who follows up have ever been close to someone who was obese, and realized how difficult that life is. The good friends I've had who were "fat" probably wouldn't say anything if someone in the room made the comment out loud that was made in LOD's original post - but it would sting like a knife.

Again, why be mean or cruel against a whole class of people who mostly experience being shunned, ostracized, being made to feel less than, etc. based on that class characteristic? Is it just that do you all don't realize how hurtful some comments can be, or are you all a bunch of shitheads who lack empathy for other people?
