Small but important peeve

Communism has never panned out in real life, unlike capitalistic societies or mixed economies.

Voluntary Communism has. Particularly important for our discussion here: cooperative farming communes have. They seem to be particularly well suited for the production of the crops with small market shares. But I remark the voluntary aspect. Cooperative farming has been great for those who have established voluntary communities. It killed millions when it was forced unto the Soviet Union by Stalin.
