I feel that I should specify: when I was using the words child and children in this post I was referring SOLELY to prepubescents (whose understanding of the world + ability to reason are still significantly undeveloped).

Obviously adolescent girls are another set of cases altogether.

I still think the age of consent could be lowered to 12 or 13, (or, less realistically, maybe even as young as 10) without any problems.
