The academic tone's a bit harder for me to change, but I do know what you mean - I'll see what I can do.

The high recidivism rate I might address alongside something about rates of general offending - something about the 'all paedophiles are child abusers' fallacy - though it's easier to get statistics on recidivism than on what proportion of the whole paedophile population 'offend'.
