For the record, as I stated in my other reply, I think that motherhood is a source of pride, not of shame.

So I don't think pregnancy is a valid criticism of young sex.

Even socially, I don't think teen pregnancy is a valid criticism of young sex. Teen pregnancy is a strong predictor of average total fertility which is itself a strong correlate of demographic growth, which in turn is a strong predictor of long term economic growth. Societies with more teen pregnancy are more prosperous over 100 year, rather than 100 day, perspective.
