I would say that if you read the second layer of meaning, they are very positive. If the criticism is that you BK were not pro enough, then the implication is the positive one that the audience is ready for you to be.

In the end it's also about how comfortable you are. I'm a smartass even in real life, so I can picture myself being a smartass in that situation, but if just isn't you, then you don't have to change and not be yourself for people who are not there.
