when an "entire community" is allowed to "raise a child," conflicting (not just opposing) points of view come into play and undermine each other.

I find that they raise the entire conversation and education to a higher, more enlightening level. My 7yo can talk to a Fundamentalist Christian any time and she can hold her own with them, too. And she might even agree with them (but I doubt it). It is her mind to make up.

It is not a sustainable philosophy for each nuclear parental family to raise (train/condition/groom) their little ones to be their own version what a human being should be.
