While true, you're just overcomplicating the scenarios, and with each added conspiratorial premise, it's less and less likely. If they all knew and set him up, only to express their real opinions, why would they not confront him outright "hey we all know your Secret, so tell us, how's it feel being a ticking time bomb?"
