"Sino-Soviet crisis, 1969."

Please provide the relevence of that crisis.

"Who supported those regimes for a century (and to a great extent still does)???

Clue: Not China…"

If it was the US, what is your point? I am by no means a nationalist.

"So now you endorse suicide bombers, if they are fighting for the "right" side??"

I'm not sure how you figure that. :-/

I don't endorse suicide bombing at all.

"China is or will soon be at parity with the USA."

How do you figure? We are a major contributor to their econimic security--without us, their economy would likely become unstable.

"No country or movement in the Islamic world is even close."

And we don't want them to be.

They appear to be a threat to many Western nations--really, they are a threat to a large portion of humanity.

"No, we just imprison or kill candidates whom we don't like."

Interesting claim--care to back it up with some examples?

"The West is, more often than not, preventing democracy from emerging, because they do know that Islamists can and do win elections."

Are you suggesting that the US does not want democracy in the Mid-East? What, then, do you suppose US forces are doing there?

It's almost like you think the US is just plain racist or something...

"Come back and tell me "We support democracy" when the State Department congratulates Hamas, Hizbullah and the FIS on their electoral wins, rather than sponsors coups against them. (Not that it is new, and not that it is only against Islamists: Communist Ortega was elected, Communist Allende was elected, Communist Chavez was elected, and that didn't stop the USA from sponsoring their overthrow, or attempt at it)"

It's called self preservation--the US democratic system fears its own end when other non-democratic regimes are rising in power, so it consequently attempts to destroy those said regimes before they become too much of a threat. Pure politics. Do I think it's necessarily right? No, but that's just nature, and nature is often times cruel.

Perhaps the US does not condone the type of democracy that these Mid-East nations run their countries by--either way, I would think that a major reason that we're in the Mid-East is to help them with something that they cannot do alone; defeat terrorism.

"Europe's increasing median age says otherwise. See you in Eurabia!!!"
