How do you know what would happen in a situation that hasn't occured? I'm sure you know what Mutually Assured Destruction is, no two nuclear armed countries would dare to invade each others' land.
Sino-Soviet crisis, 1969.
The laws in the most Mid-East countries are oppressive, and again, it's a theocracy, which IMO, is a retarded form of government--yes, representative democracy isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than what they have now.
Who supported those regimes for a century (and to a great extent still does)???
Clue: Not China
I personally would rather die then be subjected to that bullshit.
So now you endorse suicide bombers, if they are fighting for the "right" side??
Also, many fundamentalist Islam groups want to do the same thing to the West that the West wants to do to them--complete eradication--so it makes sense to put an end to this before it gets out of hand.
Completely forgetting the world balance of power
Nazi Germany was at parity with the USA. The Soviet Union was at parity with the USA. China is or will soon be at parity with the USA.
No country or movement in the Islamic world is even close.
(Though I still keep my bets on Iran for a future world power. And yes, that is thanks to Khomeini)
They vote for their own representatives, who make their own laws--it's not like we're handing down laws for them which they must follow.
No, we just imprison or kill candidates whom we don't like.
And remember, Palestinians voted Hamas to a majority in the National Assembly, Iranians voted Ahmadinejad to presidency (at least the first time, I am still unsure about the second), Algerians voted the Islamic Front to the first round majority before a Western-backed military coup dissolved all the democratic institutions, and even relatively Westernised Turks have voted several times for AKP and its predecessors, against the wishes of the military establishment, and more than once ending in military coups, Lebanese have voted Hizbullah to power several times (and not others, too).
The West is, more often than not, preventing democracy from emerging, because they do know that Islamists can and do win elections.
Come back and tell me "We support democracy" when the State Department congratulates Hamas, Hizbullah and the FIS on their electoral wins, rather than sponsors coups against them. (Not that it is new, and not that it is only against Islamists: Communist Ortega was elected, Communist Allende was elected, Communist Chavez was elected, and that didn't stop the USA from sponsoring their overthrow, or attempt at it)
Western civilization is putting their efforts to a halt before they become a much bigger problem.
Europe's increasing median age says otherwise. See you in Eurabia!!!
