I don't think that Sarah Goode went out of her way to do anything beneficial for us. She may have interviewed MAA's who were not incarcerated or in mental institutions, which is virtually a first, but at the same time she used all of the information to simply "confirm" that society needs to keep control over us and that sexual contact is ALWAYS bad for kids. You can use the excuse that she did what she had to do in order to get published but she could have analyzed our ideology rather than simply asking us questions about our fantasies and using that to show how "awful" it would be for us to practice our form of love in a safe and reasonable manner, and she could have taken a neutral stance towards what we want, like a true journalist, rather than simply supporting conventional wisdom. If she took a neutral tone and took important things like youth liberation into consideration, I would have been impressed. Yes, I am thankful that she made it clear that there are many MAA's who live perfectly law-abiding lives, but this biased attitude of her's is a dime a dozen and until we get some journalist who is willing to take a neutral tone with us, I don't think she is doing us any favors.

And yes, I understand that we have to take baby steps towards achieving acceptance by society, something I have argued for many times in the past against the "do not compromise" mentality that pervades some pro-choicers, but considering how much more open-minded Levine and Epstein was than this woman, I think there is no comparison. Keven Brown should never have worked with this woman. I'm still glad I didn't send in any questionaire on this. We deserve a neutral stance, and until we get it I will not be satisfied. This book will only serve to reinforce society's attitude towards youth sexuality, and that is NOT a good thing.
