I mean, a person can say whatever controversial thing they want with impunity and their opponents cannot use violent persuasion to silence them.

They need to either disprove the idea or piss and moan, but they can't beat someone up, or shoot them through the computer screen.
I really must say it again, you gotta love the Internet.
