Denying agency and treating people as infants. That's all I'm saying.

Of course authoritarian parenting isn't the sole cause of government oppression, or of oppression of youth more specifically. But teaching kids that they are beholden to parental authority certainly makes it easier to trick them into meekly accepting the authority of the Leviathan when he does come swimming along.
