Let me refresh your memory. You begin with the proposal Do you ever try to amend your situation so you won't have to be a pedophile anymore? The notion of "amend" implies choice and volition. How can one amend that which can't be changed or made voluntary?

I do not believe 'preference' implies voluntariness. To me, preference and orientation are synonyms.

Well, we aren't talking about you idiosyncratic personal usage. Sexual Orientation and Sexual Preference are both good English and Psychological Subjects.

Of course I already demonstrated this to you months ago. Your amnesia for evidence already presented is rather annoying. At least you might remember my presentation of the APA's denial of the discredited notion Sexual Preference in favor of Sexual Orientation.

Cancer also happens without our volition.

Volition: the faculty or power of using one's will. of one's own volition: Voluntary.

Demonstrate that cancer is a choice people make? Even those who choose risky lifestyles can't make themselves get cancer. Whereas some people make all the right lifestyle choices and still get it.

Its our choices which can mitigate risk, while not eliminating it altogether. The APA, and most legitimate scholars would argue that Sexual Orientation is entirely out of our volition. But the choice to post at GC, to visit anti-sites and to use the same nick or e-mail for all online activities are purely volitional. These choices have different degrees of risk involved. And even if one chooses to do some of them, there are safer practices associated with them. ( Though I can think of no safe way of keeping one's online activities apart if one chooses to self-nick-link. )

What I mean by software/security not being an issue, is that giving tips on it is a non-issue, a non-protector, if people are not sufficiently motivated to use them. That is the purpose of warning, to motivate people to take precaution,

A warning can offer information and motivation, but it cannot guarantee compliance. You would seem to be willing to chastise those doing the warnings for the volitional non-compliance of others. No amount or nature of warning can guarantee compliance. Only the removal of choice by closure can guarantee that. And I believe that the good that GCs mission does is worth the degree of risk I take in being here. And I have to assume that those who recklessly ignore security advice here, will recklessly ignore their security elsewhere. IMHO, GC goes farther than most sites in its precautions and warnings.

Calling someone negligent IS an insult, yeah. All involved in the negligence, as in, all people with the power to increase security who do not. Is insulting competance/caring bad now? After all, PJ is insulted for a lack of competance and caring all the time, and they're not the only organization vulnerable to this.

HOW DARE YOU!!!??? PJ's mission is to do harm to its enemies. All you have to do is read what they say when asked to determine that causing harm is their goal. Your constant rationalizations to the contrary are perverse in light of who has brought harm to you. To my knowledge no one has accused PJ of harming its own through its actions. Their mission is to hurt others. Your linking us to cyber-terrorism is false and insulting.

There is a big difference between declaring GC to be a hate-crime-free-zone and declaring the world to be. Anyone who spends long looking at GC, or at RL couldn't draw this conclusion. Despite my attempts to balance the news clippings with the positive, articles like "Pedophile outed," or "Pedophile beaten outside of his house" show up with great frequency; as they should.

Though there is no reason why those who are often depressed or unstable or lonely should be here anymore than at an Anime Chat Room. Those features show up in any population. And GC's mission statement️ ↗ has nothing to do with being emotionally or mentally ill. While we strive to offer assistance for those dealing with GLer issues, we should not be seen as a substitute for proper treatment of any condition.

While I concur with the APA that Preference plays no role in Sexual Orientation, I disagree with them that Pedophilia is a mental illness. Nor do I believe that mental illness is a Pedophile issue.

The semi-literate media try to link these notions together. But I hold them to be separate.
