about his particular case as I was no fly on the wall to be able to form any opinion. Furthermore, in any case, I simply do not like to judge or dictate to other parents how they raise their own children. The choice of raising technique and the positive or negative consequences resulting from whatever approach is chosen is just something they have to be prepared to face as parents. Trialling and experimenting with different disciplinary approaches are just the hurdles and responsibilities that come with the territory of parenting.

The guy speaking on the radio reckoned that he was a REAL demonic handful and was just having his parents on and on and constantly testing the threshold of how far he could push things with them. He said he used to do things maliciously "just for fun" or "just for the laugh" and would do things like pouring sand into the engine of his father's car and be cruel to the family pet. Ok, no reasonable parent is going to LIKE beating their children for serious things but sometimes there is just no other way with some children. This guy seemed to think that he himself fitted into that category of children who sometimes just need a bloody good hiding. Luckily I don't personally have that kind of problem with mine as they have never been that badly behaved to have ever needed these more sever measures of punishment....so I don't envy those parents who's children ARE total demonic assholes who do actually deserve a few bloody good whacks every now and then.
