with discipline. I had to figure out on my own that discipline means restraint. Most often, parents 'discipline' their child via punishment, which is supposed to be a deterrent. In the case of a child being clumsy or doing something they don't know not to do, then talking to them is more appropriate. Deterrents are obstacles, and mammals are very good at figuring out ways around obstacles. 'Disciplining' a child just makes them learn how to be sly, and the object of restraint is never achieved.

So why do parents 'discipline' their children? Two reasons.
1) Alleviates their desire for retribution, releases anger
2) Logically it SHOULD work, so if I keep doing it eventually it will work. Don't have a clue why it didn't the past hundred times, though. Oh well, I'm confident about next time...
