so if you're spanking your child, and someone tells you to stop, you'd threaten the adult with violence in order to preserve your pride? because the child is your property, and nobody had better tell you what to do with it? you'd be, psychologically, one step away from connecting feelings of pride to spanking. actually, i bet that's the reason parents spank.
