when her parents are in the room is the best time for a compliment. most be parents would be amused if you said something like "my, what a beautiful little bottom". just avoid comments like of "oooh baby!".

in my experience, kids are much more confident about expressing themselves that way when their parents are around. i think they know its edgy.
