I agree in that ANY aoa is intrinsically unrealistic. Anyone can, and, in the course of their lifetime probably will, be attracted to some other age, or even gender for those who are not predominantly gender-blind in their attraction. Some might even, in the course of their life, even change completely their preferred age range or gender. And yes, aoa reveals rather the features that you find attractive (features that are normally present at that age), than being a clear cut test of who you find attractive. Obviously someone at your aoa who for some reason does not have your preferred features will not be attractive, while someone who has them while not in the age range probably will.
But then, it *does* help. Most people *do* have a preferred set of features corresponding to specific ages and genders, and there is nothing wrong with giving them as an approximation of what you like. There is something wrong with assuming it is fixed, or that it can't be crossed anytime - but there is nothing wrong with saying "age x is the best". it is ageist, and is exactly the same problem that many hate when people of such age are discriminated against by restricting their freedoms in a legal sense. It is not discriminating in that / as long as, people don't act different depending on whether they find the person attractive or not. I don't have to like first-year babies or late teens (or adults for that matter) to treat them as persons. |
