If any group of Libertarians want to eliminate the requirement of the rich to provide for the poor, particularly considering how the poor supports the rich with their labor, then it's favoring the rich over the poor. Plain and simple. The Libertarians are pro-capitalist, and as such, their policies will favor the rich, who are the true beneficiaries of pro-capitalist policies.

Why do you think that the huge corporations support republicans and democrats, if libertarianism would be better for them?

A lot of Republicans have been on the ballot for the Libertarian Party. George Bush the elder was the candidate for the Libertarian Party during the early '90's presidential elections. The rich tend to favor the Republicans because they are the party of "morality" and this is who the right-wing Christians support.

Most libertarians I know are good hearted, and are not really that rich either.

There are otherwise good-hearted people who support terrorism and war. And there are many non-rich people who foolishly support pro-rich positions, because they all look upon the rich in awe and believe that they, too, will one day be rich, hence their support for policies that favor the wealthy.

And, there is endless amounts of theory you can read up on if you choose, that really paints libertarianism as something we'd all want, even the poor. I don't buy it, but it is a very well researched position, and it is much better then what we have now.

I explained up above why many piss poor people support pro-rich positions and capitalism in general. I don't think a capitalist system that was bereft of its social programs would be better than they are now. I think the Greens exemplify good social policies just as the Libertarians do, but without the anti-poor policies. Why don't more of us support the Greens?
