Installing exam centers. Ones where, say, a teenage girl can go, and after passing a set of written tests and a short conversation, through which the experts (and preferrably: unbiased ones) can see whether she is developed enough mentally -- since if she is, then it is obvious she should be able to consent. Also, if one goes to such place, it indicates that one also _wants_ to consent.
Ones passing the exam would be given a card w/ photo on it and a legal statement about them being, on the basis of their knowledge and mental abilities, from there on exempt of the general AoC laws as far as their participation as "minor party" is concerned. I know, it sounds ludicrous on first glance. But thinking a bit longer about it, it would take a load off from the lawmakers, particularly since the way too prudent laws are crying out for a change. It would abolish long-winded legal arguments at court -- "did she once prove she has the mindset and knowledge enough to consent? Then, mom, please don't make a fuss about her having a boyfriend already." In a way, it would decrease the chances for people getting jailed, provided they got used for to ask for this card before getting on with horizontal business, which indeed would decrease the costs associated with keeping people in jail on behalf of the state, so it's beneficial in another manner too. And so on. It is sure that the outright conservatives would find this mere idea asking for my execution. But then again: "stupid" ideas can take society ahead (and sorry for talking of girls only, but that's my way... of course it applies to guys too). just my tuppence GoldFish |
