But like most people here, I think this is not the best way to go about it because of the implications it has on our civil liberties. Not to say I, or any of us, don't care about Jack's safety, we do, but it's scary to think what this might mean for all pedophiles who decide to out themselves. I would never take pictures of girls to post on the internet, at least not without the parents' permission, but will that stop the law from issuing a restraining order on me?
I think the best thing to do is to just try and convince Jack to be a bit more aware of what his actions are causing. I don't think the fear and hatred toward him is justified, but perhaps he could do some things to try and curve it - like take a break from these events or get the hell out of California. The law can't protect Jack from himself, nor should it have that responsibilty.
I also understand that every parent in California must be breathing down Tony's neck for him to do something. I've never been in that position, but I can only try to imagine the pressure being put on him.
