Jack would have benefitted from the order by the city being shown that something could be done.
Here's the unseen point - a lot of people were seriously angry with the authorities. This presented a dangerous situation. People here were talking about killing Jack. The issue with the authorities arises from an "us versus them" approach. The people here in Santa Clarita were very frustrated and the place - being the breeding factory that it is - has a jillion kids running around. So, when Jack stated that he would come back here, it created a real mob mentality. Simple: Something had to be put in place to keep the peace. ... The worst thing for Jack was the City Attorney's rejection of the violation of a court order case. All of the anger wound up being directed at Jack. Yeah... about that. You accidentally stepped into a living diplomatic relation, essentially between two nations, in a way that you probably could not have forseen. Incidentally, last I checked, your state department primarily views us as a nuclear power with a larger population than most other nations. I appreciate that, according to your own assertions, the initial requested order was basically comprised of essentially non-signifigantly-limiting fluff to quell the populace. I've been known to appreciate a degree of ethical quality sheeple management. Nonetheless, you've also brought a lot of people a lot of very sleepless nights in the face of a global war that nobody wants, but was made very difficult to avoid. The response of the city attorney to the judge that finally tripped the trigger made things much easier for a lot of people, though we're still not sure what the hell the neccesary response to the new order will be. I'm not even the first person for initial response on this one. It's probably not even something you thought about. I know for a fact that it's not something that a couple judges who came damn close to launching WWIII happened to think about 'till afterwards. It is one of the forces that have shaped these events, and a minor local riot followed by the death of Mr. McClellan and the prosecution of his killer pretty well pales in the face of protracted war. ...so you see, there's a lot of global tension you didn't know about. There still is, but with any luck, the city attorney and whoever gave the order may have saved a damn lot of lives and trouble. ...but you ended up causing a damn lot of stress and work... |
