I can speak as an Atheist who counts many Wiccans among his friends.

But I can also speak of those reactionaries I've heard in both camps whose position on such matters is more of an axe to grind against others.

In America, Christianity in various flavours is still a well entrenched institutional power. Some are attracted to Atheism and Wicca through their reflection of personal reality. Others just seek the antithesis of this power elite.

No wonder the latter types see us as some massive international conspiracy. Taking pot-shots against the innocent and vulnerable isn't nearly as much fun as fighting some mythical Pedophile Underground.

However, cowards that they are, they wouldn't dare take us on if their accusations were true.
