Also it dosen't really *matter* what justification/motive the assaulter might have had in mind, as long as (as we here all hope) the perpetrator has to face some consequences for his/(her?) actions.

You have had more that enough on your plate to deal with, and I hope that this will not become too much of an extra burden for you and your family.
